In one sense, alcohol rehab in Los Angeles is like alcohol rehab anywhere: It can only succeed if it’s administered by competent professionals. The difference in the case of Los Angeles rehabs, though, is that the overwhelming number of alcohol rehabs in Southern California often makes it difficult to distinguish one facility from the next. What that means, in a practical sense, is that you have to be exceptionally diligent in researching your Los Angeles alcohol rehabilitation options.
The best alcohol rehab in Los Angeles is that which addresses the unique individual needs of unique individual clients. As you evaluate the various alcohol rehab programs available to you, it’s vital that you keep that principle in mind. The right Los Angeles alcohol rehab facility will quite literally change your life. You owe it to yourself, and to the people who care about you, to learn that truth on your own terms.

One aspect that sets luxury residential alcohol rehabilitation centers apart is that they treat clients with dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorders. Alcohol abuse rehab center’s staff recognizes that in many clients, there is the presence of both substance abuse and a mental disorder, which can include bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anti-social personality disorder, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, etc. Because dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorders are often present, alcohol rehab facilities admission process includes an evaluation of each client’s psychological and physical needs. Treatment can then be tailored for each individual dependent on what disorder is present. Many alcohol abuse treatment centers do not evaluate clients for these disorders; hence, these underlying illnesses are usually not recognized and treated which inhibits the client to be treated in all aspects.
Aside from interventions from qualified interventionists, an alcohol rehabilitation center offers Residential Inpatient Treatment, Transitional Care, Day Treatment, Intensive Outpatient Treatment and an Aftercare program, all of which include relapse prevention training. The ultimate goal of alcohol rehabilitation center’s program is not only to help our clients begin a healthy lifestyle that includes abstinence, but also to identify and address “triggers” for each person’s relapse potential. When clients discharge from an alcohol rehabilitation center, they are equipped with a lifestyle plan, including relapse prevention.

Alcohol rehab can’t work overnight. Anyone who promises otherwise is either lying or delusional. The fact of the matter is that alcoholism is a resilient disease, and alcohol rehab can only succeed by mounting a long-term response to it. The best alcohol rehabs in Los Angeles are those which support their clients through every phase of the healing process, with an explicit emphasis on promoting sustained and lasting recovery. In the end, an alcohol treatment program which doesn’t do that much can’t possibly help you get all the way to where you need to go.
There are plenty of “exclusive” alcohol rehab centers in Malibu. But they don’t all live up to the promises they make in their advertising brochures. Before you make an alcohol rehab decision, it’s vital that you thoroughly understand your needs, and thoroughly research the options available to you. The right alcohol rehab facility will change your life. All that remains, now, is for you to find it.

Alcohol abuse ruins lives. The fact that you’ve made it this far says you probably don’t need a lecture about the perils of addiction. You know that alcoholism turns its victims into shells of the people they used to be, and makes them strangers to everything and everyone they ever cared about. The good news, though, is that that doesn’t have to be the end of the story. As destructive as alcohol abuse can be, it can be overcome with the help of clinical alcohol abuse treatment. The only catch, of course, is that you have to be willing to take the first step.
Alcohol abuse treatment centers don’t work miracles. Even the most exclusive luxury alcohol abuse treatment facility in Los Angeles can’t help a patient who refuses to walk through the front door. If you’re going to get better, it’s going to be because you muster the courage to make the right choice. For your own sake, for the sake of the people who care about you…here’s hoping you can find the will to finally do what you must.

Detox is an essential precursor to drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Some rehab centers in California make the mistake of marginalizing the detox process, or even ignoring it all together. That’s a recipe for failure. The truth is that addiction is in large part a physiological disease, and that a rehab program must begin with meaningful physiological healing. The doctors and caregivers at detox facilities can help recovering addicts weather the symptoms of withdrawal, thereby allowing them to approach the primary phase of their rehab programs with their bodies and minds entirely intact. In the end, recovery can’t happen on any terms other than those.
All that said, detox is only the beginning of the healing process, not the end. If you’re going to get better, it’s going to be because your detox program is integrated into the framework of a comprehensive addiction treatment plan. Real recovery is that which occurs over the long term. It starts with detox. It ends with sober living and 12-step programs. Given the stakes, you owe it to yourself to find a rehab facility that can give you all the support you need to get better.

Is alcoholism a disease? Yes, alcoholism, or alcohol abuse, is a disease. The craving that an alcoholic feels for alcohol can be as strong as the need for food or water. An alcoholic, because of their alcohol addiction, will continue to drink despite serious family, health, or legal problems.
Like many other diseases, alcoholism is chronic, meaning that it lasts a person’s lifetime; it usually follows a predictable course; and it has symptoms. The risk for developing alcoholism is influenced both by a person’s genes and by his or her lifestyle. In many cases, whats needed is an intervention. If an alcoholic is unwilling to get help, what can you do about it?
This can be a challenge. An alcoholic can’t be forced to get help except under certain circumstances, such as a violent incident that results in court-ordered treatment or medical emergency. But you don’t have to wait for someone to hit rock bottom to act. Many alcohol rehabilitation centers, especially the luxury residential alcohol rehab centers, suggest the following steps to help an alcoholic get treatment:
Stop all cover ups. Family members often make excuses to others or try to protect the alcoholic from the results of his or her drinking. It is important to stop covering for the alcoholic so that he or she experiences the full consequences of drinking.

When we’re young, we want to be surfers in Malibu, or pro hoopsters in Los Angeles or own a luxury sports car – no one grows up wanting to be an alcoholic. Alcohol addiction, or alcoholism, is an involuntary disability with genetic, psychological, and environmental factors influencing its development and symptoms. It persists over time with physical, psychological, and emotional impairments often accumulating as drinking continues. Denial becomes an integral part of the disease and a key obstacle to recovery.
Alcohol abuse can amplify the risk for the liver, esophagus, throat, and larynx (voice box) cancers. Being an alcohol addict can also cause immune system problems, brain damage, liver cirrhosis, and harm to the fetus during pregnancy. In addition, risk of death from automobile accidents and injuries at work increases with misuse of alcohol. Furthermore, both homicides and suicides are more likely to be committed by people who have been under the influence of heavy alcohol. Medically supervised detoxification is critical with severe alcoholics as seizures can occur from withdrawals. Long term addiction recovery is dependent on an effective drug detox program, drug rehab and alcohol treatment center instilling effective coping skills into the individual.

I live in Los Angeles, where there’s a lot of cooky, funky, twisted people. And, unfortunately, there’s a tremendous amount of alcohol addiction. Once, when I was in Malibu, CA. I was all alone, on the beach, during the day, drinking this nasty old vodka. It was one of those times I wanted to cry, but felt like too much of a loser to even do that. This woman came up to me, out of the blue. She looked down at me, and my bottle. Immediately, I just wanted her to go away. But she smiled, then sat down next to me. She asked me my name, then what I did, and then she started telling me that she was sober. She told me how she had been sitting on this exact beach twenty years ago, with a bottle, all alone. Something inside of me wanted so badly to listen to this cool older woman, and I did. She told me how she stopped drinking, and how sobriety had changed her entire life. Then, she turned and pointed up the beach, towards a nice house. She told me it wasn’t where some movie star lived, but that it was the residential alcohol treatment center where she had gotten sober. I stared at it for a long, long time, then started to cry. I knew I needed help with my alcohol addiction. When I turned back, she was gone. And I’ve been sober ever since.
